Question:

paints or mustangs? which is better?

which horse breed is better in your opinion paints or mustangs?

Answer:

Depends on the horse you get, my main riding horse is a paint and i have two mustangs and a paint im rehoming. I have a rescue and all are broke and 12 and under. Best thing for you to do is look at both breeds and i mean go look and ride both see what best suits you. Its the horse not the breed itself you need to look at.
neither. Paints are frequently bred only for color, so they typically have bad dispositions, and are either mean or skitso. Mustangs are good and hardy for trails, but they don't have the elegance of a line-bred breed. If you're wanting just a good trail horse, mustangs are great, but they just don't (as a breed, there are always exceptions) have the speed of a QH, the jumping abilities of a TB or warmblood, the fluid show style of an Andalusian, or the energy of an Arabian.
This is a tough one for me because I've had both. The Paints were more quickly trained, but had a tendency to let anyone do whatever they wanted to them. They didn't have the loyalty that my Mustang did. They were not as hardy either. The Paints got injured more often and weren't very thrifty when it came to feed. The mustang, IMO, was much smarter and much more loyal to me than any of the Paints I had. The Mustang was also much more hardy and an easier keeper than the Paints. My Mustang was very leery if anyone but me rode him, and his trust was hard to gain, but once I had it he never faltered and always gave me everything he had. I would love to have another Mustang again, I just loved my boy, but I don't have the proper facility, according to the BLM, to be able to adopt one but would love to be able to buy one from someone who has one.
I like Paints but I have never owned a Mustang before.
Paint: APHA (American Paint Horse Association) paints are not AQHA's. Pinto: Color/marking/grade paint marked horse Mustang: Hardy, short backed, tough, no pedigree since from wild breed. Which one would I want? Paint. People have idolized the Mustang like some do the Pit Bulls and Escalades and Hummers. I don't like things that everyone else is going ooooo I want one of those as it makes me feel like a 'monkey see monkey do' person :) That's me though. Mustangs are a nice little hardy horse. I cannot STAND it when people adopt them then breed them! GRRRRRRRRR
