passat 2000 air bag light turned on.?
No. You can pull the hammer and let it slip but it will not fire the gun. Unless the gun is broken, defective or altered. Yes. There are different types of internal passive safeties but they all typically prevent the firearm from firing unless the trigger is pulled to the rear to disable the safety. No, absolutely NOT. A transfer bar safety is not affected by the motion of the hammer.
Airbag light on indicates a fault code in the computer. The fault code could be a malfunction in the system, or a perceived malfunction because of a surge or sudden loss of power in the electrical system. (Like front jump starting with cables reversed, etc.). Only way to know for sure is to have it scanned. You can't get access to the codes with one of those b.s Auto zone code readers. You need a Snap-On MODIS or equivalent. BEWAREAir Bags will not work properly (or possibly at all), when light is illuminated.
if on a new gun(1900's-present), yes, the transfer bar will stop the gun from firing if the hammer isn't at full cock, but with older revolvers(Colt Single Action Army, ect), most don't have the transfer bar safety system, you had to carry them with one chamber empty to rest your hammer on, if these guns were brought to almost full cock and released, it's very possible for it to set the cartridge off since there's nothing stopping the firing pin hitting the primer of the cartridge.
All modern revolvers use either a hammer block safety or a transfer bar. Without the trigger all the way back, the transfer bar will not raise up so the hammer can hit it, or the hammer block will not move out of the way.
