First your tyres. You can get road tyres in MTB sizes. I'm assuming you have 26 inch wheels, and you'll almost certainly be able to fit tyres that are around 1.5 inches wide. The rolling resistance will be lower, and they will still absorb some of the shocks from the road surface. Most tyre manufacturers make them, go to your local cycle store and see what they have in stock. Some tyres have slick centres with studs on the outside, and these are good if you ride mostly on paved surfaces, with the occasional trail use. Cheaper tyres are a false economy, they are more prone to punctures, and will probably only take a lower pressure. The pressure rating will be marked on the side of the tyre, go for some that can run up to 80 PSI, and run them as close to that as you can. You'll probably need some new tubes, you can use your old ones as get-you-home spares. Either buy a pump with a guage, or buy a separate guage, but make sure it will work with whichever valve you have. Next your seat. A wider seat is only comfortable for short rides, if you are going to be on the cycle for anything like an hour or more then a narrower saddle will be more comfortable. You should build up your resistance to the seat, this will happen quicker the more you ride. A lot of short rides to start off with, and build up the time of one or two rides a week, and you'll soon be able to ride further. Keep at it, and you'll notice a difference pretty quickly.
If you open up the white block, you'll find 4 wires connected and two not connected. Note which ones connect across the reed switch and the remaining two will be connected together. Then cut back to near the wall one wire at a time (you don't want to short the 12v supply). The Tamper alarm will sound at the panel - type in your code and ignore beeping until you complete the following: Strip the 4 wire ends. Leave the unused pair unstripped Connect the two that went across the reed switch. Connect the two that were connected together at the block. Wrap these two connections separately with insulation tape. Reset the alarm panel, No electric shock danger, no danger of fuse blowing.
