Question:

Please tell me why my mother thinks it's okay that my sister takes her clothes off for money?

I am absolutely livid. I just found out that my sister, 22 years old, went from cocktail waitressing to dancing on stage, naked, for money. Granted, the money is nice, she makes $400-$800 a night, but it's just sick to me. My mother justifies this by saying, oh it's only for a little while, she's been trying to find a job for months. She's doing it long enough to have the money to pay for school Give me a break. I payed my way through school using student loans, grants. Yeah I have a nice bill, but I have an awesome job, doing what I love, making excellent money, without taking my clothes off. I am really concerned for her safety! She's had her share of stalkers, and I'm terrified something might happen to her. My sister is a beautiful womanwho can do better than that. I needed to vent. Thanks for listening.

Answer:

yes you can do it. It will be more efficient than a gas furnace since some of the heat in a gas furnace goes up the chimney (or vent) But you run the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. That is why direct vent appliances are limited in size. You should get a CO detector if you are going to do that.
that would be expensive and the only room it's going to heat is the kitchen.
You use your cooker for cooking? It's producing heat then. Using it to heat your home is no different. I often switch on the cooker for a quick warm up.
Electric heater is much better for heating the rooms instead of using gas. That's risky and gas can be harmful for human body system.
Sounds like the fire has been out for a while and cold air is now coming down the chimney because the flu is open. You are just smelling the soot in the chimney. If the fire is out then the smell is not a sign of CO. If the fire is still smoldering and the cold air is coming back down the chimney then you could have a CO problem. But you also have an insulation problem in your house. For cold air to come down the chimney then warm air has to be leaking out of the house some place. You are a good candidate for an energy audit by an expert. You probably have high energy bills don't you.
