i bought a used 2003 Hyundai Tiburon a few months back and yesterday i got pulled over and cop told me it was too loud, so i showed him the only weird thing i knew about the car, lifted the hood, and showed him the aftermarket air intake. afterwards he inspected the car and told me i needed to remove the muffler tips because they were illegal. So my question is do i have to get an all new muffler? and how much would that cost?

Since a stock Tuburon is a very quiet car, the previous owner must have put some kind of silly muffler on there (or no muffler at all). Surely you can tell if it seems loud?

This is no some option you have, because if that cop sees you again and you did nothing, waiting around for an answer you like here, he will impound you car.
