Question:

quartz counterto[?

Is it possible to order quartz countertop myself so I may install it or at least the basic pieces and have a contractor order and install the sink area since that requires cutting the countertop?

Answer:

This is difficult to answer without a picture, but here goes. Coral and quartz are fairly common in the geologic world. When polished, both can have some value to them at gem/mineral shows. Honeycomb Quartz is another term for floatstone, where the rock is very porous/cellular and floats in water. The honeycomb structure is probably the recrystalliazed walls of the coral. It may actually be calcium carbonate filling the pore spaces in between the walls. A little drop of dilute HCL would tell you for sure. Anyways, fossils are ALWAYS cool and collectible and the rarer they are, the more money you will get for them! Hope this helps!
