Question about Fire Alarm?

First of all I have no ideal who bright ideal this was to do this in my apartment, but I have a heating system built in my wall right near the kitchen area in my apartment. Above it is a fire alarm which came with the apartment. Last night was kind of cold in my apartment so I turned on the heater to warm up the place. I later left to go out with some friends and turned the heater off only to return with my alarm making this beeping noise like ever 30 seconds. At first I though maybe the apartment was too hot and it was doing this because of the heat, but I notice that the heater was off. Is it suppose to do this? It did this for at least 30 minutes every 30 seconds and it was begining to drive me nuts. Just when I though about unplugging it the darn thing stopped. I pressed the button to see if it was still working and sure enough it buzzed. I just though the whole thing was strange. Should I let the landlord know about this?

Answer:

HELL NO YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT THEY FAILED TO SHUT OF THE WATER AND THAT'S WHAT CAUSE THE DAMAGES TO THE UNIT UNDER YOU. THEREFORE YOU NEED TO CALL THE HOUSING RIGHTS CENTER OR A LAWYER OR IF YOU DONT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY CALL LEGAL AID AND EVERY STATE HAS LEGAL AID YOU JUST HAVE TO LOOK FOR THEM AND THEY CAN HELP YOU MAKE SURE WHATEVER YOU GIVE THE OFFICE IS IN WRITING AND YOU KEEP A COPY OF EVERY THING YOU GIVE THEM AND DOCUMENT EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS
Due to the extreme amount of sound that my brush cutter uses, I tend to use both eye and hearing protection while working. I must admit that I have only recently started this trend for myself, but now that I have been doing it for at least one season it has become nearly second nature.
You are liable for all of the structraul damage you caused, it does not matter if you were renting the space you damaged or not. Then having insurance does not make you less liable. You caused the damage, this is your puppy. You can also expect to receive some law suits from the other tenants or their insurance companies, for damages you caused to their personal property. BTW, the landlord can NOT mess with the sprinklers at all, it is the fire department that turns those off. The landlord was not doing anything because the Fire Marshall would have been all over them with fines if they anything.
