Question:

Quick release axle (not skewers) dimensions?

Quick release axle (not skewers) dimensions?

Answer:

A good quick release grips as well as, or even better than an axles that uses nuts. In addition, quick release axles can actually be less prone to bending than axles using nuts. My first mountain bike had nutted axles and they were quite prone to breaking. The rear axle broke 3 times. Once I changed for a quick release axle it never broke again
That is pretty much right on. If you have a mountain bike the rear dropout spacing is 135mm and the diameter of the axle is commonly 10mm but can be other sizes. The entire axle length can vary some but 145 is definitely in the right range since it's usually 10-11mm longer than the dropout spacing. The 26 probably refers to the length between the cone (where the bearings ride) and the nut that goes inside dropout and is the part that goes through the rear cassette or freewheel (gears).
