Question:

Rear Windshield wiper stopped working half way through?

I have a BMW x5 2003. I used the rear windshield wipers when it was raining today, and they stopped working half way through. It has been bouncing on the glass, moving about 3 inches then stopping then repeating it until it makes it through 1 full cycle. Ive heard that there is a jam protection on it that stops you from damaging the motor. What else cant he problem be.

Answer:

the rear wiper motor itself! but in order to remove it u have to take out the mechanism that comes whit it then u will see if there's something that wont let the motor do the full cycle! good luck!
There usually is a relief mechanism that gives so the motor doesn't burn out from not being allowed to turn. Sounds like the release is catching everytime the motor turns once and moving the wiper 3in. You may need to re-attach the mechanism.
you may under no circumstances attempt to function the windshield wipers without first clearing the snow off the window and making effective the wiper blade isn't caught to the window from the ice. continuously pop them remote from the windo first. you will have stripped the kit circulation, and can might desire to interchange the motor. you'll be waiting to locate one at a junk backyard enormously low value.
