Please - - is this for your sister or Mother? why look to far from what you 'Know' as a delicious meal.? Your entertaining familyI have been asking if any of my family has selected a Kosher meatnot for religious reasons but rather the cut and preparations any cut from the hind half contains tendons sinew and heavy nerve fibersWhich are removed (as I understand) from the Kosher cuts but what does a heathen know as for sides - - ask your family desert - - go to a pastry shop - bakery (not the supermarket) How do you get from a family gathering to too expensive - - you have people to lean on
pasta with salad and bread and maybe a cake or fruit salad for dessert I'd make lasagna with a nice green salad and garlic toast and strawberry shortcake for dessert (to cut a few buck make spaghetti and meatballs instead)
This is one of those deliciously simple recipes you'll use again and againSpicy Apricot Chicken 1/4 cup apricot jam 1/4 teaspoon red-pepper flakes 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves (about 6 ounces each) Coarse salt and ground pepper Directions 1.Heat broiler, with rack set 4 inches from heatIn a small bowl, stir together jam and red-pepper flakes; set glaze aside2.Place chicken on an aluminum-foil-lined baking sheet; season with salt and pepperBroil until chicken begins to turn opaque, 5 to 6 minutes3.Brush glaze on chickenBroil until glaze is browned and an instant-read thermometer inserted in thickest part of chicken registers 165 degrees, 4 to 5 minutes more.
