Question:

Tires size?

i wonder something about the size of the tires...i hesistate between bying 205 and 215..does it wider tires have any advantage!I'm talking about summer tires.Tnx

Answer:

Purchase the tire size with the automaker of your vehicle determined would be best. They spent tons for time, energy and money determining which sized tire would give your vehicle the best handling, stability and control. You need to trust their findings.
The car manufacturer fitted the best size for the car. Wider tires use more fuel and may even foul the underside on full lock. So you should stick to the original size as no advantage will be gained.
Wider tires handle differently. The difference between 205 and 215 is negligible - it's only 10 millimeters.

I assume this is about car tyres and not road bikes of which I have no knowledge. So as far as car tyres go the idea is that the bigger footprint you can put on the road ( the amount of rubber making contact with the road surface at any one time) is regarded as a good thing, therefore 215 is better than 205. However as a tyre gets wider the side wall gets lower, for instance a 205 wide x 50 deep may become a 215 x 45. This lower side wall will/can affect the ride comfort of the car, maybe to a degree that you feel more bumps through your seat/steering wheel and driving maybe a little more jerkier. Having been through this situation myself many times when increasing my wheel diameter from 15" to 16" onto 17," I have always found the larger tyre width my preference over comfort but it's a personal matter for you to decide upon.
