ok i have a 2001 ford f150 4.2 v6 4 speed automatic transmission. i took it to koi and that put it on a scanner and it showed that the transmission solenoid A and B were messed up so im wondering which is easier replace tranny or the solenoids thanks.
Much cheaper to fix the solenoids. You should be able to find information on how to accomplish this on the internet.
More and more vehicles are showing up with sludge build up within the engines and transmissions because the owners/drivers neglected to change the fluids soon enough. I always suggest an annual full service on all vehicles and that means to change ALL the fluids and filters on the vehicles on a yearly basis. This includes adding BG MOA to the engine, BG 44K to the gas tank, and a good transmission additive to help prevent sludge buildup. Go to your nearest auto parts store and get a can of Seafoam transmission additive and see if you can get the solenoids unstuck. Good Luck
