Moved into a house with an ADT alarm system, about 20 years old. There are two smoke detectors, which I would like to replace with combination carbon monoxide/smoke detectors. I can't figure out how to remove the plastic cover in order to detach the detector itself from the ceiling.The detector is round, white plastic cover over a black base. It has a small grille in the plastic, maybe 15% of the area of the cover. There is also a round metal piece, maybe 1.5 diameter, looks like a miniature shower head.I called ADT for help, and here I can only say this is how I interpreted their response, they may be very nice people: we don't even want to talk to you if you are not signed up for monitoring. So I am on my own.
Just watch the DIY channel for a few days and you'll be fine.
