Question:

SD card reader isn't recognizing my SD card, even though its lighting up?

I have a mobilemate SD card reader. I plug it it, nothing happens. I put in my SD card, it lights up, but when I go to open up the card, it says Please insert a disk into removable disk(G:) Why is it doing this, and more importantly how do I fix it?

Answer:

its possible the partition information on the SD card is damaged. look into the program testdisk to see if you can repair it. if not, photorec (which comes with testdisk) can do a raw recovery of your image files. it would be a good idea to take it to a local computer repair store (one that doesn't suck, and not bestbuy) to see about recovery if its important. if the data is not, try to format the SD card and see if it works again. if you know someone with linux, try loading ubuntu live disc on your system and see if it can recognize your SD card. linux usually has an eaiser time understanding messed up data, which is why i prefer it for data recovery.
