Question:

SD card reader problem?

I have an older memory stick. It came with a digital photo frame that my father had sitting around. Brand new, never used. When I Putt it in the multi card reader on the tower, I cannot find it. I assumed it would come up as a certain letter drive, read as a mass storage device, but it doesn't. Where can I find it, to transfer pics from the C drive to the memory stick?

Answer:

Have you tried going to My Computer and looking for it there? If it isn't showing up there - then you may be having a problem with your card reader or the USB port. After that - I'm stumped Hope this has helped.
be careful if it has important files on it then watch it. each socket you put a card into has two diferent attributes 1) the socket capabilities(pins, connections, speeds, siz limits) 2) the firmware/software limitations.(file system version) small gadgets do not have all the software/firmware support to handle(SEE) all the different formats out there, especially updated versions. some sockets are SD and NOT SDHC all SDHC are SD capable but may not match their speed algorithms so may cause errors. in simple terms then a socket can only SEE the data that it FORMATTED and can only work with contemporary cards or at least for the next 18months shall we say. once a socket WRITES any data to a card then that card has been ALTERED and may be seen as CORRUPT by a different socket. Format and update it in the ONE socket read it in as many as you can if they eunderstand the structure of the file system on it. this is because the DRIVER if you like is small compact and only supprts a limited version and is never gonna get updated and will be out of date with newer cameras etc. A socket has firmware and will be out of date with any new cards. re-format it in your PC, not in a camera and not in a photo frame. if you put it in a camera, re-format it in the camera take some photos, COPY them to your pc reformat it in the pc then COPY back the photos and put it in the photo frame. in essence ONE socket should own the data, DO NOT WRITE or ALTER the data in another socket note: deleting a photo or resizing a photo ALTERS the card.
suitable SD and micro SD might desire to all paintings powerful (offering you have the mSD adapter). no count if some card readers are incredibly fussy with SDHCs, i've got have been given had a minimum of two circumstances mutually as the computing gadget purely did no longer understand an SDHC card, to my extensive inflammation.
Most Multi Card readers have a really low shelf life. So, chances are high that your Card reader is faulty. Try using a new Card reader it might just work.
