I am a very DIY sort of guy, and I am very cheap, too. I like the idea of keeping my windshield wiper blades and just changing the rubber refill. However, I can never find them in stores, and I don‘t know anyone who has ever done this. Are there any strong reasons against changing the refills? Most things I have read say that changing the refills is a pain. Why is this? I dont mind taking an extra 10 minutes to save $10. where can I buy the refills?I am not particularly worried about my wipers leaving perfectly clear glass behind. I just need to change my current wipers, which hardly do anything.
go to walmart and buy the ANCO brand, they are cheap and easy to change. you will prob spend 10 bucks for the 2 of them and 8 bucks for the refills.
My usual practice is to buy the refills once, then buy new blades the next time, and then the cycle repeats. This has worked for me pretty well for the last 30 years or so.
if the refill falls out like they sometimes do you can damage or scratch the windshield avearge replacement of a wisdshield 250 is it worth it refills also only last 1 year or less so next year you replace them again and spent more being cheap is not always saving you money like another answer said wal-mart. tou might spend a couple more bucks but they will last 2-3 times longer also, picture if you will you put on the refills and your in the rain and one slips out of the holder or falls out and you end up in an accident, and total your car? is that 10 dollars gonna come and save you? buy you a new car?pay for the insurance hikes? when it comes to safety on a car, is it worth the 10 bucks?
