Question:

should i get my axle boot changed or the whole axle?

Ok the problem is such that I went to get a regular oil change on my Nissan maxima 2000 and told the guy check everything else oil, brakes, etc. bla bla. Then he tells me my axle boot is leaking so I ask him he's like what to I do. He's like when I start hearing noise then bring it to the shop. Now I'm like if the axle boot is leaking and I don't even know why should I change the axle boot or the whole thing. Now I seriously dont know what should be done since the mechanic just told me to bring it back when the noise is heard. So please give me your answers. Thanks in advance.

Answer:

they are observed as a Penny-farthing. Penny-farthing, extreme wheel, extreme wheeler, and undemanding are all words used to describe a sort of bicycle with a great front wheel and a lots smaller rear wheel that alter into commonplace after the boneshaker, till the form of the protection bicycle, interior the Eighties. They have been the 1st machines to be observed as 'bicycles'.
I worked for an insurance company. If a boot was damaged in an accident we'd pay to replace just the boot. Pay the extra $100 for piece of mind or save the hundred and probably be fine . . . the choice is yours grasshopper. Food for thought--I had a car and an oil change shop told me I had a torn boot. I asked how much to fix it and what would go wrong if I let it go. They told me as long as I kept it lubed up I wouldn't have to worry about it. I drove it another 20,000 miles, up to 180,000 and never had an issue or thought about it again.
I tore my axle boot and flung all of the grease/oil out of the boot and started hearing a clicking on turning, this is the sound he is talking about. You are better off getting a new axle because it is not that expensive and you can still run into problems in the future with that even if it is properly repaired.
First, I would find another mechanic. I dont know of any real mechanic that would tell you to bring it back when it makes noise, that's hilarious. If you dont hear any clicking noises when turning and initially accelerating, then you can just replace the boot. Most shops these days including mine just replace the entire axle. We charge 240.00 parts and labor for this. But if there is no noise and the customer requests just the boot, we would do this for 150 dollars. It's totally up to you if you want a piece of mind and just get it over with, or do you want to band aid id for a year. Edit, if its both boots on the same axle, which is rare, I would just replace the axle, but again, it is possible to change the boots, add another half hour labor to change the inner boot as well. For another 60 bucks, why not get the entire axle done, that's what I'd suggest doing.
the wheel shall be 28inches and the tire only 20 feet
