Question:

Should i install Cold air intake?

I park my car outside, if i had my cold air intake installed, will moist get in to the system and cause damage to my engine??

Answer:

just to clear things up. cold air intakes will NOT ruin your cat converter or anything rediculous like thatan engine running too rich or without complete combustion will do that. if people understood why a cold air intake is effective things would just make alot more sense. engines do not like heat. the cooler the air going into the combustion chamber the better. when the air gets too hot.and the piston starts compressing the air/fuel ratio it could actually lead to preignition.meaning combustion to begin before the actual spark occurs ( FYI thats how deisels runhence no spark plugs) preignition is terrible to pistonsand could actually melt and blow a hole in it. using a cold air intake can reduce those risks.especially if your using a lower octane fuel i say go for it.its definetly great to have.you may not notice much of a power difference.but you can have alittle more peace of mind on the condition of your engine
Your engine will not get damaged due to moisture problems with the air intake. There would nowhere be the amount it would take to cause any damage to the engine. The only way to damage it with a cold air intake is if you drive through high levels of water and cause hydrolock. Should you get one? Well that is up to you. It is best when installed in conjunction with headers and a cat-back exhaust, otherwise you will see very minimal gains. You will lose a tiny bit in low end power and gain a tiny bit in high end power if you only install the intake alone. I think the best reason to get one without all the rest of the components is if you want your car to make a little growl when accelarating.
If you already have cold air intake system but you haven't installed it for fear of moisture I say go ahead install it. There is hardly any moisture at all in the tube and what little there may be is so small that it will get vaporize by the combustion process to do any damage.
