Question:

Smoke detector beeps every 30 seconds after testing and then stops. Is this normal?

After I replaced the batteries in my smoke detector, when I pushed the test button, it beeped as it should, but then started emitting a single beep once every 30 seconds for a few minutes and then stopped beeping. When I tested it again, the same thing happened. Is this normal, or do I need to replace the smoke detector?

Answer:

So you need the pressure in psi, yeah? Just use the Bernoulli equation between a point at which you know the pressure, velocity, and height, and equate it to the nozzle. Use continuity equation (rate of mass flow at one spot is equalk to rate of mass flow at another spot in the same hose) to solve for the velocity at the hose exit, and sub into the Bernoulli equation.
