Question:

Smoke detector for burned food?

Can one set the sensitivity of a smoke detector, is there such a detector? I want detector that I put in kitchen, so when my wife burn the food, it will go off.but it shouldn't go off, with normal cooking. you know burning produce more thick smoke and smells like hellShe doesn't burn the food all the time, and she cooks very well, but it happened couple of times, she forget the stove on, and then we eat, i check after her now most of the time, but just to be safe.

Answer:

Try installing the 9 volt battery with the opposite polarity but just for a second or two. That may reset the voltage sensing curicuit that tells the brain that the battery needs replacing. This assumes that the new battery you installed really was new. To check, try swapping batteries with a smoke detector this is working but is not chirping. good luck
they really never had an abundant source of water(fire hydrant) for the fire if there ever was one. so it would usually just burn down. of course if they see fire, they would just get out.
