My smoke detector's battery compartment has this spring loaded plastic latch / indicator / thingie. When I put a battery in, I push the latch down, and put the battery in place over the latch which holds it down. What is it for?First I thought it was to help get the battery out, but there is already a ribbon to pull on for that purpose. Second, I thought perhaps it was hooked up so that the alarm could detect a properly installed battery, but when I opened it up, there is no connection to the rest of the unit. What's the point?
Exactly what ron said, and they get them for free. Oh great, same troll, different name.
Almost every electrical appliance use thermostat to control temperature like air conditioners, refrigerators, microwave oven, vacuum cleaner , wahing machine, heaters, irons, etc.
Two reasons: comfort and protection. Standard issue flight suits are made of Nomex fiber, a fire resistant material that comes in handy when things don't work out as planned. The one-piece flight suit is more comfortable and easier to manage than messing with shirt tails, etc. Furthermore, flight suits have lots of zippered compartments to stash whatever you need to stash. There are even compartments on the legs that are easily reached while sitting down. Cockpits are very cramped.
