Question:

Smoke detector still chirps after replacing batteries and cleaning?

The smoke detectors in my house have been chirping for the past few days. We have replaced all of the batteries, and they still chirp. The detectors are all hard-wired together with the battery backup. They don't constantly chirp. Detector 1 will chirp. A few seconds will pass and detector 2 will chirp, a few seconds go by and then detector 3 will chirp, etc, etc. After all 6 chirp, they will be quiet. About an hour will pass, and the detectors will repeat this cycle. They will be quiet for about 3-4 hours, and the cycle will repeat again. Things I have done include resetting the breakers, changing the batteries, and using compressed air to clean out the detectors. Ideas?

Answer:

When the smoke detector beeps every five minutes, that means the battery is low. Your smoke detector is defective. Take the battery out and replace it. Smoke detectors are not more sensitive than you are at detecting smoke. If you're asleep or in another room, a smoke detector can detect smoke that you cannot detect just because you are not in the room. If a smoke detector is going off and you are standing next to it, you will smell and see the smoke if it is real. You probably accumulated enough dust in the detector to set it off. Replace it, but then vacuum it when you change the battery.
It was used in many gospel songs. The most recognized would probably be I've Got a Mansion. Or it is sometime called A Manision on a Hilltop
