Yes, you can do that. Just install your phone's pc suite then connect your phone via data cable, thats it, your phone will charge through cable. You can change this setting, go to standby mode, press right arrow() then * then left arrow(), one more left, then * again *, then left then *.(***) its a sony ericsson secret menu.
To my knowledge you can charge any sony ericsson phone through the data cable sorry i couldn't be of any more help
