It sounds like you have installed the pvc pipe without using compression fittings. These are fittings that compress in between a threaded and non threaded pipe. Lowes or Home Depot has these.

Check the joints and be sure you've applied a pipe sealant around each end to the next PVC pipethen attach and tightened. Good luck and keep smiling, Robby
Read Duke's answer. I think he has it right. The compression fittings are round plastic (beveled) o-ring that fits or slides on the pipe (un threaded piece) after the round nut is placed on the pipe. Upon installation the compression fitting (no threads needed) slides up to meet the connecting pipe (threaded piece) and sits between the nut and the threaded pipe and seals upon tightening the nut.
