Question:

Step up transformers?

I need to find a transformer that will convert 480 input to 240 output for a motor controller. Where can I get this type of transformer? I've only been able to find 120/240 transformers.Thanks.

Answer:

This configurable from a standard NEMA transformer. Of course it needs to be rated for the power you need. The transformer will have terminals H1, H2, H3 and H4 primary and X1, X2, X3 and X4 secondary. Connect the 480v to H1 - H4 and interconnect H2 to H3. Connect the load to X1 - X4 and interconnect X2 to X3.
Check with a supplier who sells industrial/commercial transformers and other electrical equipment. There should be one in your local yellow pages, or online. You will need to know what kVA rating is required for your motor as well.
you're looking for a step down transformer. as for where to find them, i'm not sure. try ordering online (OKorder or some of those electronic store) or Radioshack/the Source by Circuit city.
Out okorder
