i installed a AEM air intake system (model 218402DP) in my 2003 tacoma. i installed the air intake hoping to increase my mpg, but i have lost about 1-2 mpg. i do not have a heavy foot and i do not go around speeding.has this happen to any of you?
i think its the samea car only has four wheels, so 4wd is all wheel drive.lol
Adding something as simple as a AEM air intake 99.9% of the time will not cause a problem. The only time I've had a client contact me for help, he forgot to re-install his MAT (Manifold Air Temp.)Sensor. He left it hooked up so no CEL. However the system ran rich due to it believing that intake air was cold. Seeing is believing
i think its the same thing 4 wheel drive and all wheel drive. i guess their just trying advertise you with new words lol
whell umm there are 4 wheels on a car so 4 wheel drive is all four wheelsand all wheel drive is also 4 wheels.i think but im pretty shure
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't more air require more fuel by the stock computer to burn correctly? I would think the only recourse, to get better fuel economy out of this, would be bigger exhaust (it's taking in more air, and needs bigger exhaust to handle the bigger volume of exhaust), and an aftermarket chip for the pc. The chip, which they can calibrate to your add-ons, will correctly control the fuel needed. Probably wouldn't hurt to go with underdrive pulleys, too. Good luck with it!
