i saw a question of someone finding a bed bug in there bed and now im to paranoid to go to bed because my matress is really old and has holes in it so it most likely is a breeding ground for bed bugs and i dunno what to do =O.
It might be a breeding ground for bed bugs if you had bed bugs, but unless you've travelled recently, you probably don't. Just because your bed is a little shabby, that doesn't mean bed bugs flock to it. They're just not very common. People believe they are, probably because they used to be, and people were probably told they were just a part of life, but that's not true anymore.
You either have bed bugs or you don't. The condition of your mattress really has nothing to do with it. If you wake up with little red bumps on your chest or see flecks of blood on the sheets, then you have bed bugs. Get a new mattress and sheets. You may have to have the room de-loused. Bed bugs can remain dormant for months and come back to life.
Gret37 is right the bugs are there and even if you get a new mattress and then sleep a night on it poof there they are just in much smaller numbers. Besides getting new mattresses everytime you go to bed if you put the pillow in the freezer it will decrease there activity but unless you like a cool or cold pillow really it is the difference between having a few million to having more millions.
If bed bugs were living in your mattress you'd already know. Bed bugs come out at night and suck your blood. So when you wake up in the morning you have bites that look like mosquito bites. Do you have any of those bites? You will have new bites every day if they are there. If not, then there are no bed bugs in your mattress.
I hear that bed bugs improve human being's health considerably if their bites don't exceed the limit, of course. Take my advice and make great friends with them. Kidding aside. In my college years my wife and I had to live in a tiny ancient room with old wooden sofa we slept on for about 3 years. It was damn lousy with them bed bugs. Nothing happened really! I'm already over a hundred now, but still alive and kicking. Trust me, I'm on the level!
