i called a pet store and told them that i didnt see wheels or hideouts in the gerbil and hamster cages. and they said gerbils dont need them. i got a wheel for my gerbil toby and he loves it!! is this true?do your gerbils have wheels?
Yes, gerbils need exercise like any other living creature. They aren't some magical rodent that doesn't need wheels and things to entertain themselves, the pet store people are idiots, I think they're just making up crap that they don't know to make a few bucks.
They do not NEED wheels, however they give the gerbils exercise, entertainment, etc. I have gerbils and they love to play in the wheels. The pet store is telling you that they do not need wheels b/c they do not want to appear as if they are not caring for their animals. Wheels also have the potential to cause injury with the amount of animals that pet store cram into the little cages.
