I was in the same boat but for almost 3 years. I was more of a mother to him than a girl friend. I would even slip him cash at the bar so it looked like he was buying the drinks. Move on honey. You take care of him, and allow it to happen, all you are doing is enabling him. Find a dude who wants to take care of you, mentally, physically, emotional, and FINANCIALLY!
No it isn't. Maybe the detector is too close to the stove or you need some ventilation. Do you have a vent over the stove that leads outside? You should, with a fan in it too. I have an electric stove (hate it) and it used to set the smoke alarm off all the time even for just boiling water. After the landlord installed a hood fan (just the recycling kind) and I moved the alarm away a few feet all the racket stopped.
It should not set it off. I have a gas stove in my current house and in my last house, both had new smoke detectors, and that never happened. But if you don't see or smell smoke, and the detector goes off anyway, it might be the type that is heat-activated, if it's above the stove or near it.
Some thing may be burning in the stove that was left over from food (like crumbs of bread or cheese from pizza). If you don't see the smoke then you have the smoke detector in your kitchen which will go of very often, like mine. I put my smoke detector outside of the kitchen.
If it is a smoke detector and you see smoke coming from the oven/stove then I'd simply get it checked out. If you don't see smoke, make sure it isn't a carbon monoxide detector - if it is, then turn off your gas immediately and stop using until you have it serviced. Also, if at anytime you smell gas (rotten egg smell) at all then turn off your oven, open windows, and call for emergency repair immediately.
