Question:

theres a nail in my back tire?

theres a nail in the back tire of my MOTORCYCLEshould i stop riding it completely? until i get a new tire

Answer:

The recommended safe fix is a plug/patch which is installed from the inside, or replacement. I just throw a patch on the tube after pulling the nail.
Yes, you should stop riding it until you get it replaced. Sudden tire deflation on a motorcycle often means a wreck. Probably 95% chance of a wreck if it's the front tire and 50% if it's the rear. You can patch the tire in some cases, but you have to take into consideration your safety. The tire will not be as safe with a patch and the patch can let go causing sudden tire deflation. That being said, I've patched and run REAR tires. I have only patched and run front tires long enough to get somewhere I can replace the tire (I do a lot of long distance riding away from home). If you have a bike with tubes in the tires, you can patch the tubes all you want. It's pretty rare for a tube to let go suddenly.
penetrating nails in a motorcycle tires are EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! Remove the tire and wheel from the bike and take it to your local shop to have a new tire put on. There IS NO PATCH available that is safe for motorcycles. Keep in mind, there are only 2 pieces of rubber keeping you alive on your bike, it is best to keep them both in proper condition.
