I got a new plasma tv so I replaced my LCD tv and hooked up my tivo to the plasma and only get basic cable channels. My premium channels or anything above 99 does not come in. If I switch on a higher channel it goes to what I had on previously. Tivo hooked to AV1, TV to composites. If I switch to composite I get all my channels. If I go to tivo side only the basic comes in. I checked my hookup and it is all good. I tried to do guided setup again and it worked for a bit, but then it reverted back to the basic. I do get Cox advanced channels as well as HBO and only will come in when I switch to composite view. I need the TIVO side for taping purposes and would really like to tape my higher cable channels if at all possible. I have a Scientific Atlantic 4240HDC cable box. Please help, I am losing what I have left of my mind trying to figure this out. Thanks in advance.
Hard to answer since there is not enough info. It sounds like you have a series 2 Tivo box that works in conjunction with your cable box. It should be hooked up like this. Cable from the wall to the cable box. Composite cable output from the cable box to the Tivo input. Composite cable from the Tivo output to the TV input. Set up the IR blaster so the Tivo will control the cable box. Make sure the input on the TV is correct like channel 3 or AV1 etc. If, by chance you own a newer Tivo (Series 3, TivoHD etc.), then these Tivos replace the cable box. You don't use these Tivos with the cable box. You will need a cablecard from the cable company in order to receive the higher number channels. It goes in the slot in the back of the Tivo. You are not receiving the higher channel numbers on the Tivo is because those channels are digitally encrypted by the cable company. You need a cable box or a cable card in order to decrypt those channels.
