To what extent will the effectiveness of the washing be compromised if I use a top-loader powder in a front-loader machine?
Maybe quite a bit, eventually. I recently saw a post from someone who needed the hinges replaced on her front loader, and paid a large bill for that work. The repair man said that because she hadn't used HE detergent, the hinges corroded.
