Question:

Trans Axle Bearing???

Have a 2003 Sport Trac. Smelled a bad burning plastic/metal type smell this morning coming from the rear passenger tire. Lots of heat and the hub felt HOT. Thought maybe the calibers were going bad, brake looks good. Auto parts guys says it must be the trans axle bearing going out but the heat is only on the back passenger hub. Anyone with some good thoughts???

Answer:

Because this is a rear wheel drive vehicle, it is not possible for this to be a trans-axle bearing, or transmission bearing. The only thing possible is the rear axle bearing is bad, or the brake caliper or brake hose has failed, A failed axle bearing will cause a growling noise when the vehicle is driven. Look at the brakes for discoloration and keep in mind that sometimes when the brakes are cold they will appear not to be locking up, when they get hot the wheel will be hard to turn.
no, a brake is never going to know enough about what you are trying to do, to prevent 'tip over' there are so many other ways to fall off, anyway here is my advice: a. learn to ride wle.
a sturdy thank you to fasten up a motorbike is to disconnect the front wheel and with a large, beefy U lock safeguard the front tire, physique, and back tire all mutually to the motorbike rack. from time to time, this in simple terms isn't accessible pondering the circumstances. For this it quite is effectual to have one extra chain lock. somewhat you have the desire to make beneficial that the physique and the two wheels are secured. Take a walk around your community (the place you reside and artwork) and see how human beings are locking their motorcycles. you like your robbery deterrent to be as sturdy if not extra suited than the norm. in case you utilize your motorbike to return and forth you could evaluate leaving a 2d U-Lock locked to the motorbike rack at artwork or college. this protects you the worry of hauling a extensive lock back and forth. so a strategies as your seat is going you could take it with you, replace the quick launch with a locking bolt, or purchase a cable that locks your seat to the physique.
more like wheel bearing i think. a transaxle is for front wheel drive
release the front brake lever and use a kickstand.
