What does it usually mean when the automatic transmission fluid smells like burnt rubber?
Seriously. It means you must change your transmission fluid immediately or risk burning out your transmission. The fluid should also look pink in color not brown. Get it checked without delay. Old transmission fluid will destroy your transmission quickly!

First off how many miles are on this? Second if you have something with a lot of miles and the fluid hasent been changed properly then you could do more harm by changing it now.and yes it has been proven!! Think of it like this if the fluid is burnt then wouldnt the parts that it cools and lubricates be burnt too? And last there is detergant in tranny fluid so by changing the fluid you are also adding new detergant which will clean off anything that is on your clutches and bands holding them together!
