Question:

transmission or engine?

If i have two of the same cars, one needs a new engine and one needs a new transmission,is it easier/cheaper to put the good engine in he other car or the good transmission in the othercar?thanks!

Answer:

A transmission install generally easier, than a full engine swap. The transmission is just the transmission, and it connects to the engine on one side and the wheels on the other. Just think about all the things that are connected to the engine, transmission, alternator, ac, exhaust, cooling system, electrical, computers and about 50 other things. All of that requires disconnecting, reconnecting and testing, which means more labor, and more money.
It'll be cheaper to replace a transmission than an engine. Auto Trans $1000 to $3000; Engine $2000 to $6000 in general for everyday cars. Manual trans even cheaper.
The FACTORY one, of course.
The best system is the one that came with the car. If you are looking for a different sound or looks then OK -- if you are looking to gain 15% in HP, then stop dreaming.
while he says shot he in all risk potential the transmission isn't in drivable condition, or it won't circulate into kit, shift suitable, and so on. And if the transmission grow to be overheated to the element it stopped working then definite, the engine ought to very nicely have been broken. It seems such as you would be extra valuable off basically paying for a used or rebuilt 350 engine from a important source. people (even those you think of you realize) will sell you crap just to avert the hassle of removing it some incorrect way. fairly you are going to be able to desire to persist with your intestine. in case you do no longer sense comfortable paying for this heap then do no longer. there is often something extra valuable available.
