Question:

UPDATE! A red Brake! ABS and Trac off lights are on.?

on my 2003 dodge caravan. It just came on yesterday. Does anyone know what this means? My brakes are working fine and I had them fixed on last year sometime at Sears. Should I go back to Sears or should I go to where I purchased my van from? I‘ve had the van for almost 3yrs. and it has about 120,000 something miles on it. Anyone know what this could be?Update: I took my car in to Sears today and they did a brake evaluation. They said nothing was wrong with my brakes and they think it may be a electrical problem because my ABS light is on and I don‘t even have anti-lock brakes. They told me to take it to the dealership and have them take a look at it. What do you guys think? Oh and Monday I am going to take it to Auto Zone and have them scan it to see if any codes show up.

Answer:

i own a shop and your van should have anti lock brakes on it,i think the guys at sears may not know what there doing on this one, because that light wont come on if it doesn't have the system on it,so either they over looked it,or they don't know what their doing, any way take it and have it scanned, chances are there's nothing wrong with it but something made the light come on,so it has to be determined ,and at auto zone they can tell you,i can tell you this though,if your van didn't have anti lock brakes on it that light wouldn't even be hooked up,so i think they need to play catch up on their automotive skills, good luck hope this helps.
Pete is spot on about the relative lack of skills at Sears. The pink BRAKE gentle is severe and should be addressed as we communicate beforehand the brakes really fail. it would want to be so ordinary as low fluid or it would want to be a leak! With those light fixtures the first step is to examine the ABS module contained in the computer with a superior diagnostic scanner and discover out what the vehicle thinks is incorrect. absolutely everyone not doing it really is stealing you money, and that i agree that an 03 Caravan has ABS. be conscious: even as ABS Fails(gentle on) your brakes nonetheless artwork merely positive, yet without anti-lock function. Traction administration is disabled(gentle on) every time ABS is failed. Get it appeared at ASAP ASE Cert vehicle Tech, keep proprietor, Chrysler T C proprietor
Hi, Unless someone has tampered with the wiring in your vehicle, the only thing that can turn on the ABS and TRac lites is the ABS computer. If you don't have ABS then you don't have that computer. You may have only rear ABS and some folks don't know the difference. The Brake red lite means one of three things. The emergency brake is on, you have lost pressure in half of your braking system or the ABS system has failed. There is a remote chance that you have an electronic failure in the instrument panel that is turning on the lights erroneously. You need a qualified mechanic with experience in ALL antilock brake systems and electronic experience. I don't recommend the dealers because they will replace everything that can possibly cause the problem to make sure they fix it. As you can guess, it will be expensive. Ask friends and relatives about the best mechanic they know. These are your best sources because of their experience in dealing with said mechanic. AZ can scan codes on the ABS only if you have an ABS computer to store them. The system may have lost power thru a fuse even. This is definitely not a fix over the phone problem. Be carefull. Some people will take out the bulbs and charge you a fortune. Get references and when you find the right person, stick with them. It'll save you money and give you peace of mind in the long run. And by the way, the antilock brake Vibrates the pedal only in a panic stop. Vibrations during normal stopping indicate a problem in the brakes at the wheels.
