Sorry, once you've settled a case you can't bring another one, or change your mind. Also, it's not your attorney's fault. Ultimately it's your decision to settle a case, the attorney can't do it for you. You could have said no to the settlement and taken the case all the way to trial. Also, your attorney could have been completely correct in urging you to accept the settlement. Each state has different laws regarding lawsuits and damages. The news story you heard about could have been in a different jurisdiction and therefore it is governed by different laws. Also, each case has different facts. A synopsis may sound the same as your case, but cases can turn on a single fact and there may have been something that gave that case an edge. Finally, your attorney may be correct because there is a very short reach back period to recover lost wages. The Supreme Court just ruled that you can't collect damages for pay discrimination for more than six months prior to filing suit. This ruling could mean that a few thousand dollars might be a very good deal. Sorry you feel jilted.
I understand your concern. I would treat the airplane like I treat the car. In a car, babies and children are required to use car seats, booster seats and wear a seat belt. I believe the same rule should apply for flying. I don't think it's wise for babies and children to sit on your lap during a flight because they do not have a seat belt. If the parent falls asleep, the child can move and accidentally fall to the ground and hit their head or get injured. If there is turbulence, the parents' arms are not a substitute for a seat belt. As a mother, I wouldn't risk it. I would purchase a seat for the baby for safety and that way you are in a peace of mind that they will have an oxygen mask for them.
