Question:

Via Ferrata Recommendation?

Hi Guys,I recently went for the via-ferrata at the lake district, UK, thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was one of my best experiences ever. It was my first time at doing such a thing I definitely want to take it to the next level. The Via Ferrata at the lake district is supposed to be at a beginners level. I did not have any trouble completing it could have easily gone further. I have zero experience in this field am in fairly good (not perfect) physical shape. Could you please recommend another via ferrata that is close by to me? I live in London would not want to travel extremely long distances. Would just want to make a weekend trip out of it without spending too much money. It should be at a beginner or intermediate level. The via ferrata that I went on is the only one in the UK.Thanks for your help,Cheers,Rusty

sam gave you some good advise welcome to the sport
There are some (mostly walking routes) in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France that I've done that have had some Via Ferrata sections, I think there is proper stuff around there too, but not very much.
Hi there - there is only one other in the UK and that's in Scotland (which isn't really a Via Ferrata) - Google it. The most concentrated area of Via Ferrata is in the Italian Dolomites and can be reached by flying to Venice and then a two to three hour drive north to Arabba, Corvara or anywhere in the Alta Badia. There are Via Ferrata in the French Pyrenees but they are more sparse than in Italy and there are also Via Ferrata in Austria - The German word for Via Ferrata is 'Klettersteig'. The guidebook for the Italian Dolomites is published by CiceroneP: Via Ferrata of the Italian Dolomites Vol. 1 Best wishes Sam
