Becky, I am not going to leave you a linkI am an American living in Suriname for the last 3 yearsThe exports are kind of obviousBut I believe Wikipedia will confirm this for you “bun snel” – nice and fastThe main export is Bauxite, a crucial ingredient in aluminumIn fact, a bombed out cargo ship sticks half up out of the water in the main port along the Suriname River in Paramaribo, the capitalIt was bombed by the Germans during WWII, hoping to stop Suriname from shipping Bauxite to the AlliesSuriname supplied over 50% of the Bauxite for World War IIThis attempt was unsuccessful because the ship sank off to the side, and ships could get around it Gold and nickel are also mined in the country We ship some produce, mostly bananas, rice and pineapple abroad, though it goes primarily to Europe We export our beer, Parbo to French Guiana, where it is the preferred beer, as it is so much cheaper then any French beer imported from France Parrots are like pigeons down hereSo we do a lot of trade in exotic birds… In facthate parrots… noisy green rats with wings! Currently there are new treaties underway to export Podisiri (I think you Americans call it Acai) and other fruits from the area.
