what are some ways that magnetism seems to defy other laws of physics?

This was one of my research questions for a science fair project, so I just need lists of sources that can give me info. I‘ve heard of the levitating frog, but I was just wondering if there‘s any other things magnetism can do that isn‘t usual. Oh and I know that nothing can ever truly defy the laws of physics, I‘m just talking about things like a levitating frog, because normally, frogs can‘t fly. Thanks!

I used to have a needle and thread hanging in mid air. Tether the thread to the base of a stand with about 0.5 m of thread . Clamp a box containing the magnet just above the 0.5m mark and then carefully extend the thread so the needle is a few cm below the box - the needle then hangs in mid air below the box with no other means of support - a sheet of paper can be passed through the gap with no effect - or a sheet of aluminium or copper ( not steel of course) - have fun.
