I would recommend cleaning your fire alarms before you replace them. They may be wired together and once could be dirty. I use that canned air to gently blow off the sensor unit (The area with the open slats) If this doesn't fix the problem you should purchase new units. I always recommend getting combo units that detect both types of fires. Stay safe!
A rubber roof is literally a roof that has an outer membrane which is made out of literal rubber. This type of roofing material is generaly applied to non-pitched roofs. Typically it comes in (10'-16') rolls with varying thickness. Asphalt shingles are used on pitched (angled) roofs or sometimes used on walls. As the pitch (angle) of the roof decreases, the usefulness of shingles is reduced. This results from the method that shingles are applied by. The application process of asphalt shingles is simple, after a moisture barrior is applied to a deck ( bare plywood roof), the shingles are nailed on in rows, where each row is offset from the adjoining rows with respects to the HORIZONTAL POSITIONING of a row. To visualize this take three pieces of paper out, lay down one piece and call it a row. Now lay a second piece of paper so that it completely covers the first. Now slide it vertically so that you can see the first. Now slide it HORIZONTALLY to some position. At this point you should see an L shape created by the lower piece of paper. Now take the third piece and place it over the second sheet so that the distance between the bottom of the third sheet of paper and bottom of the second piece of paper are the same length as the distance between the bottom of the second sheet and bottom of the first sheet. Now slide the third sheet over HORIZONTALLY until the side edges of the paper are perfectly aligned with the first sheet. When you see this you are seeing how asphalt shingles are layed out. If you tilt this up and poor water on it, there is no direct way for the water to get through, but if it is laying flat the water can enter through the bottom. This is why asphalt is not used for flat roofs and why rubber is. Rubber can be glued together or patched, as anyone that has had a nail puncture their tire can attest. It can be made seamless.
