I am doing a school project and cannot find any disadvantages to using a reflective vest. Are their any? Source of information would b greatly appreciated, but if not, that's fine too. Please help.
I've known rental units to require a smoke detector, but never a carbon monoxide detector. Smoke detectors are cheap, but monoxide detectors cost a lot more. Anyway There are detectors that run just on batteries. Others run on AC power with battery backup. Since you said you plugged it into the wall, sounds like yours is AC operated with battery backup. The AC ones continually monitor the battery and beep when it's low or dead. Even though the detector is getting power from the AC, if there is no battery, it thinks the backup battery is low or dead and is warning you to replace it. Strange that a new battery would die so quickly, but it can happen, especially with off-brand batteries. But it's more likely that you installed the battery backwards. For some reason that I don't know, it doesn't let you know right away that it sees a weak or dead battery (by it being backwards). It waits for a day and then starts that infernal beeping again. Try reversing the battery. If that doesn't solve it, buy a new one (a reliable brand) and double check the polarity, too.
