What are the wheels called that instead of the tire being right under the vehicle it is forced to make a wider stance? Say for instance I have a Bronco II with the stock wheels, which sit right under the truck, straight. But I also have a f 150 which has the wheels i describe which bevel out to make a wider stance. I ask this because Bronco II s have a tendency to flip and we want to take precautions to avoid this.
You either put on wheel spacers, which is a bad idea, as it causes premature wear to wheel bearings and other parts, and can mess up alignment and handling, or you swap in a new axle that is wider than the old.- search Full Width axle swap bronco II-
Wheels with less backspacing and a negative offset will make the tire set out further from the wheel well, or get spacers. The downside to both is by moving the wheel away from the hub it puts increased stress on the wheel bearings, spindle, knuckle, and the axlehousing itself, just like wider wheels. Also because of the fact that the spacers bolt onto the hub and then the wheel bolts to the spacer, you now have two sets of lug nuts to torque and re-torque.
