My husband would like to install a cold air intake in his 2007 Scion XB. I have no idea what brand to trust. Any suggestions would be helpful.
1st the scion comes with chilly air as an selection. The TRD has Catback exhaust (all sound) which with chilly air won't help HP or Torque. chilly air desires a loose circulate exhaust like Borla quicker to get the main out of mods you point out.

AEM makes a good cold air intake for the xb. You can also get a TRD one from the dealership. AEM makes the TRD intake for toyota (scion) except with TRD badging. The only difference would be the TRD is covered under warranty and is about twice as much money. It really shouldnt void your warranty if you put the AEM intake on.
Cold air intakes are only worth while if a better performing exhaust system has been installed as well. If you free up the breathing going in, it will not make an ounce of difference unless you free up the breathing going out. The only thing you will acheive is more particulate matter getting into the engine. Most aftermarket cold air intakes do not filter as well as the OEM filter. Replacing the OEM filter on a regular basis will have the same effect as a Cold air intake (without high performance exhaust), while giving better filtration. Save yourself some money and increase the engine life. Stick with the OEM filter.
