i went in through the shift motor opening to get it out,but i have no room to press it back in.please help.
you can easily make one from a threaded rod or borrow a small hydraulic one from a shop ,they make one now that's small and built for doing this,i usually use porta power with a socket on it to press it in with ,but if one isn't available use a threaded rod or a long bolt, either method works ,you need to buy two of those seals because you,ll probably mess the first one up like i do ,i always buy two of them,it just saves an extra trip to the parts store, those are real hard to get started back in strait again, good luck on it.
I made one years ago out of a long threaded rod and a combination of big washers. I ain't buyin no stinkin tool for a one time deal.
It takes a special tool the goes in through the outside of the axle housing and presses the seal and bearing in to the right depth. BTW: The seal is leaking because the bearing is worn and the seal cannot carry the weight of the inside end of the axle. If you notice the seal and bearing area in the housing is wide, but the smooth part of the axle is narrow where the seal runs. The tool costs in the neighborhood of $250, bur a local auto supply that rents tools may rent one to you.
