Answer:

Always make sure you wear a crash helmet i know in the us some states you dont have to but here in the uk it is a must and is the law. always make sure you are ready to stop(always think someone is gonna pull out infront of you,cut you up) because this could save your life. put crash bars on your bike to, this will save damage if you come off, wear protective clothing always, you dont have to wear leathers all the time you could wear textile clothing for example alpinestars do a good range of gear also hien gerick, if you like wearing jeans there is a special type of jeans called draggin jeans they are reinforced and you wont feel clammy and hot in them as they are breatheable have you ever been on a motorcycle before if not try and be a passenger to see how you feel on the back.i have been a passenger since 07. NEVER go around anyone or pull out on corners. always check your mirrors this is a life saver. always use your indicators, some car drivers well most of them are ignorant of us bikers. being on a bike is fun but like most things there is dangers, you are in danger every day of your life doesnt matter if you are walking, getting a bus, car, bike there is risks. your parents are worried of course they would be but they need to keep a open mind about this, is this what you truely wanna do if so please dont hold back, dont let anyone hold you back you only live once.i know i would be worried when me and my hubby decide to have children because our children most likely be bikers as we love bikes and my hubby rides a motorbike too.infact the whole family are into bikes. remember if you have never been on a bike and you do decide to go on the back of someone elses JUST RELAX or the bike will not turn properly, my hubbys friend got injured because his passanger didnt lean right and they came off.just relax and enjoy.
Actually, it is the other way around, employers want to hang on to employees for longer periods, it is cheaper to pay for their longevity, then it is to train a new employee. Having a job is not an entitlement, rather it is earned. Do your job, keep your job. Assume that you cannot be fired, and be the first one terminated 2ND EDIT: Having spent years in supervision and HR, I stand by my statement that many companies prefer to retain, rather than terminate, it's cheaper in the long run. Neither I nor any organization that I have been associated with, have ever terminated an employee with cause and without attempts to correct issues. That said, why does the employee then have the right to quit without notice? Why are they not accountable when thousands of dollars go into training, decreased productivity while they are training, relocation if necessary etc, but they can leave at a whim without reason? Where do I recoup my costs at? You suggest that to differ with you without research is knee jerk, but I can argue the same thing back to you, you are merely repeating what you have been told, nothing more nothing less. This comment tells me that you stereotype, ' I think americans are scared, and because you don't know what to do, you'll just do what your told. You're too afraid to change'. Convince me that I need to change, (and that will take a lot more than a website and your word) and I will give it serious consideration, until then, I agree to disagree with you.
Fairly good answers already. Only addition is watch out for other vehicles, don't trust anybody else. If your 16 and driving a car - you'll still be at risk of crash, so cycle isn't much more risk. Cultivate paranoia, remember right of weight rules-if their bigger and heavier than you, yield this means stop for fat pedestrians even. Stay alert, sober and straight. Also be polite to Hells Angels (partial tease).
