you could try to create a spark if you have a piece of metal. or you could possibly find two rocks that will spark. you will need something very dry and highly flammable to catch the spark. got wool socks? the other way is friction between two pieces of wood. this is a very difficult procedure for the amateur.
I would really get the electricity checked out. Its possible that you amy have some wring problem, too. I'd be concerned that you have a wire smoldering somewhere. Then, again, I tend to be a bit paranoid at times. Though, it's always good to err, on the side of caution. Just a thought
take the cover off remove the battery. dont put it back up. jus leave it off for the night deal wth it tomorrow. lol

turn the breaker off for a couple of minutes and turn back on and see if it will reset. also dust can set off a smoke detector, occasionally it's a good idea to use your vacuum hose and suck around the smoke detector to prevent dust buildup.
