Question:

What causes bed linens to get those tiny lint knots?

I purchase only 300 to 400 hundred thread count bed linens and just started experiencing this problemI recently bought a new washer and dryer and wonder if one or the other could be the culprit?

Answer:

The apple will only turn brown if cut and exposed to the airThe only way to prevent this is lemon juice rubbed on all exposed areas, so none of them would work.
What's happening is the weaker fibers forming the yarns are breaking and the remaining fibers that are then not caught in the yarn pill upThis is the basic mechanism of pilling, whether you're dealing with something like a cotton-poly blend or a mix of longer and shorter cotton fibersAbrasion will increase the problemyou may notice more pilling in sort of people-shaped patchesThis is, essentially, a fabric faultSateen and similar weaves will increase this issue because the longer float yarns are more subject to abrasion.
I know the best answer to this question! Squeeze some lemon juice on the apple, this has vitamin c which is an anti-oxidant and will inhibit the enzyme that causes browning.
