Question:

What do you guys think about blanketing your horse in the winter?

I am thinking about putting a sheet on my horse for turnout and while he is in his stallWhat are the advantages to this? I'm not trying to prevent hair growth.just keep him clean and keep him a bit warmI bought a weathabeeta waterproof sheetThanks! :)

Answer:

If you just put a sheet on him, you're actually making him colder than he would be without one, since you're laying down the hairs and squashing the insulating layersIf your horse needs a blanket, then use at least a medium weightYou do have to make sure to keep an eye on the temperatures and wind chill, thoughMost horses will sweat under their blanket if it's above freezing and sunny, and if it gets cold before the blanket has a chance to dry out, the horse will get coldIs his stall in a closed barn? If no windows or doors are open, and he's in with other horses, he doesn't need one when he's in the stallIf you get a warm spell, go ahead and let him be turned out without a blanket and hang the blanket in the sunthe UV radiation from the sun will help kill anything growing under the blanket.
Pizza Hut are just changing the name of a few of its stores as a temporary thing.its all to do with a marketing campaign and trying to advertise the new range of pastasOf course, everything else on the menu will stay the sameIm a Pizza Hut manager and believe me, we are all as confused about the silly name change as the customers! If the pasta is like any of the other products our 'amazing' marketing team have previously thought up, it wont sell and be off the menu in a few monthsTry not to be too hard on the staff at pizza hut.Ive just had to break the news to my staff that my assistant managers WONT recieve a payrise (even in line with the new minimum wage!) and now theyre also stopping bank holiday pay!!
