Stepper motor driver has three basic stepper motor drive mode: step, half step, subdivision. The main difference is that the motor coil current control accuracy (ie excitation mode).
1, the whole step drive.In the whole step operation, the same stepper motor can be equipped with a whole / half step drive or a subdivided drive, but the running effect is different. Stepper motor driver according to the pulse / direction of two-phase stepper motor excitation coil two cycle (i.e. setting current, charging coil) of each pulse of the driving methods will enable the motor to move a basic step angle is 1.80 degrees (the standard two-phase motor in a circle of a total of 200 step angle).
3, subdivision drive.Subdivision drive mode has two advantages, low vibration minimum and high positioning accuracy. Subdivided stepping motors are widely used in stepping applications which sometimes require low speed operation (that is, the motor shaft is sometimes less than 60rpm) or the positioning accuracy is less than 0.90 degrees. The basic principle is that the two coils of the motor are accurately controlled by sinusoidal and cosine steps, so that the distance of one step angle is divided into several subdivision steps. For example, the sixteen subdivision drive allows each step of the 200 standard stepper motor to achieve the running accuracy of 0.1125 steps per lap (i.e., 200*16=3200).Generally speaking, in the whole running state, each input pulse, the angular displacement of the motor shaft is a step angle, in the half step running state, each input of a pulse, the motor shaft angular displacement is half a step angle. Stepper motor is best not to use the whole step state, the state of vibration in the whole step.
2, half step drive.In single-phase excitation, the rotating shaft of the motor to stop the whole step position, the driver receives the next pulse, such as to another phase excitation and keep the succession in excitation state, the motor shaft will move half a step angle, the middle stop in two adjacent full step position. In this way, the phase coils are in single phase, and then the dual phase stepper motor will rotate in a half step of 0.90 degrees per pulse. All motor / half step drivers supplied by Shan Hui motor can perform the whole and half step drive, and select by the dialing position of the dial switch of the drive. Compared with the whole step method, the half step method has the advantages of double precision and little vibration at low speed, so the half step mode is generally used in the whole / half step drive.
